We were making tea when I pointed at the sealed Tupperware on the counter.

“Are those beans?”

She didn’t say a word as she walked around the kitchen island, opened a drawer, then turned around and handed me a spoon.

“Oh, so the beans are THAT good?”

She looked at me like I was crazy.

“Do NOT eat those beans. They’re really old and need to be thrown out.”

I considered the spoon in my hand.

“So then why do I have a spoon?”

“For your tea, obviously”
