She made me a sandwich today. Asked me what I wanted on it, and I said surprise me. It sat on the kitchen table until they left and I moved it to the fridge. Hunger is a feeling I like, one that says I’m not in pain, one that I can control. But she made it for me. I’ll likely enjoy it. I’ve been starving my whole life. I just don’t know what to do with the hunger in her eyes.

About Me

An English diarist and naval administrator. I served as administrator of the Royal Navy and Member of Parliament. I had no maritime experience, but I rose to be the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under both King Charles II and King James II through patronage, diligence, and my talent for administration.
