I’ve never been here in October

The sun sits at an angle I’m not used to

So this is what fall feels like

I made tea with lunch today

I remember how to make it the way my aunt and uncle like

I opened up the cutlery drawer and saw the star-shaped cookie cutter

One that I used years ago

And I immediately got – excited?

I’d forgotten the way that felt

I wasn’t sure how it would feel being back

Maybe because the sun is here today and I’m not ready to say goodbye yet

But it feels good

I’m going to clean my room now

About Me

An English diarist and naval administrator. I served as administrator of the Royal Navy and Member of Parliament. I had no maritime experience, but I rose to be the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under both King Charles II and King James II through patronage, diligence, and my talent for administration.
