Aren’t you giving too much?, I imagine my mom asking me. And the answer is, I don’t know. Are you hungry, baby? Eat from my fingertips. Are you cold? I’ll drape my warmed coat over your shoulders. Rough day at work? These arms will hold you close. Maybe it’s too much. But she hasn’t pushed me away. She yanks me in with what she has – teeth, nails, black lips – and with a playful giggle says she has me trapped.
About Me
An English diarist and naval administrator. I served as administrator of the Royal Navy and Member of Parliament. I had no maritime experience, but I rose to be the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under both King Charles II and King James II through patronage, diligence, and my talent for administration.
